Prayer based on James 5

You can read James 5 here:

Lord, keep me from being a defrauding, materialistic wealthy person, for if I do, I will weep and howl for the miseries that are coming in the final days. For these riches shall rot and make my garments moth-eaten. As the gold and silver corrode, this would be evidence against me and it will eat my flesh like fire. I pray that I don’t lay up treasure in the last days. For the defrauded wages of the laborers who mow and harvest my fields would cry out against me reaching your ears, the Lord of hosts. May I not live in luxury and in self-indulgence. I pray that I do not fatten my heart in the day of slaughter. Remind me, for by my sin I have condemned and murdered the righteous person, yet he does not resist or avenge. I praise you, Lord, for your gift of grace.

I pray that I am patient until the coming of the Lord. Just as the farmer waits for the precious fruit of the earth, being patient until it receives the early and the late rains, may I also, be patient. Help me establish my heart, for the coming of the Lord is at hand. Teach me not to grumble against another brother or sister, so that I may not be judged. For you, the Judge is standing at the door. Make me like the prophets who spoke in the name of the Lord, remind me of their example of suffering and patience. I pray for myself and others who are blessed and who remained steadfast. Through the steadfastness of Job, I have seen your purpose. Oh Lord, how you are compassionate and merciful.

Gracious heavenly Father, do not let me fall under condemnation by swearing by heaven, earth or by any other oath.  But let my “yes” be yes and my “no” be no.

If any us is suffering, let us pray. If any of us is cheerful, let us sing praise. If any of us is sick, let us call for the elders of the church, and let them pray over the sick, anointing with the Holy Spirit in name of the Lord. May their prayer of faith save the one who is sick; you alone, Lord will raise them up. Thank you, Jesus, for forgiving those sins. Help me confess my sins to others and pray for others so that I may be healed. For as your word says, “The prayer of a righteous person has great power as it is working.” Remind me that Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed fervently that it might not rain, and for three years and six months, it did not rain on the earth. Then he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth bore its fruit.  May my prayers be answered similarly to Elijah.

Lord Jesus, if find anyone wandering from the truth, make me your servant to help bring them back, so that saving their soul from death will cover a multitude of their sins.
