Prayer based on Psalm Chapter 1 --

Lord, I pray that I will resist walking in the counsel of the wicked, will refuse to stand in the ways of sinners, and will not sit in the seat of scoffers. I pray that my delight will be in the law of you, oh LORD, and that I will meditate on it day and night. Make me like a tree planted by streams of water that yields fruit in its season and has leafs that do not wither. Like a tree that benefits others, I pray that in all I do I will prosper for others and not be like the wicked who are like chaff in the wind. You say that the wicked will not stand in the judgment, and the sinners are cast from the congregation of the righteous. For you LORD know the way of the righteous, and you promise that the way of the wicked will perish.

Prayer based on Psalm Chapter 2 --

I wonder why there are others that plot in vain to tear down your kingdom. The earthly kings and rulers set themselves up and take counsel against you, our LORD and your Anointed. They say that they want to burst our Christian bonds and cast away our cords of influence. Thank you Lord that you are not dismayed; for from the heavens you laugh and hold them in derision. For you speak to them in your wrath and terrify them in your fury, we can celebrate that our King has been set on the holy hill of Zion. Thank you for the LORD’s decree; that David is your Son at at his coronation you had begotten him. You told David to ask of you and you will make the nations his heritage, and the ends of the earth his possession. Because he asked, you fulfilled the promise by Abraham's offspring through the tribe of Judah and sent your Son to break those against you with a rod of iron and dashed them in pieces like a potter's vessel. Still the kings and rulers of the earth were warned to be wise. Therefore, I pray that I serve the LORD with fear, and rejoice with trembling. May I kiss your Son, lest he be angry, and I might perish in the way, for I know his wrath is quickly kindled. Bless me Lord as I take refuge in him.

Prayer based on Psalm Chapter 3 --

O LORD, like king David, I have many foes that are rising against me; saying that in you there is no salvation for my soul. Thank you, O LORD, that you are my shield, my glory, and that you lift my head. I know that like king David, if I cry aloud to you then you will answer me from the holy hill. You LORD, sustain me with peaceful sleep even in the midst of restlessness. I pray that I will walk in faith and not be afraid of the many who have set themselves against me. Arise, O LORD! Save me, O my God! As you did for your servant David, strike all my enemies on the cheek and break the teeth of the wicked. Thank you that salvation belongs to you, my LORD; may your blessing be on me as one of your people!

Prayer based on Psalm Chapter 4 --

O God of my righteousness, I pray that you answer me when I call! For in the past you have given me relief when I was in distress. Now I pray that you continue to be gracious to me and hear my prayer! For Lord, my honor is being put to shame by those who love vain words and seek after lies. Thank you LORD for setting apart the godly for yourself; for I know you hear me when I call. I pray that when I am angry, I do not sin; rather that I go to my bed, ponder in my own heart, and remain silent. Accept my sacrifices as I put my trust in you, LORD. For you know that I look for someone to show me some good. Lift up the light of your face upon me, O LORD! Thank you for putting more joy in my heart than those who abound with grain and wine. I am thankful for peace when I lie down and sleep; for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.

Prayer based on Psalm Chapter 5 --

Hear my words and consider my groaning, O LORD. My King and my God, to you I pray that you pay attention to the sound of my cry. O LORD, I pray that you hear my voice as I prepare a sacrifice and watch. For I know that you are not a God who delights in wickedness and I am thankful that evil may not dwell with you. Help me not be like the boastful who do not stand before your eyes; for I know you hate all evildoers. Remind me that you will destroy those who speak lies; as you, LORD, abhor the bloodthirsty and deceitful man. I am thankful I am allowed to enter your house through the abundance of your steadfast love. Therefore, I will bow down toward your holy temple in the fear of you. O LORD, I pray that you will lead me in your righteousness and make your way straight before me as I battle my enemies. 8 Keep me from being like them, for they flatter with their tongue and do not speak the truth.  Guard me from them, for their throat is an open grave and their inmost self is destruction. May my enemies bear their guilt, O God. I pray that you let them fall by their own counsels and cast them out because of the abundance of their transgressions and rebellion against you. But as myself and others take refuge in you; let us rejoice, sing for joy, and spread your protection over us so that those who love your name may exult in you.  Thanks be to you, O LORD, for you bless the righteous and you cover them like a shield with favor.
